About the position
WFXT TV Boston is seeking a dynamic and engaged Anchor/Reporter who is passionate about breaking stories and building community ties. The role involves anchoring and reporting news, contributing to digital platforms, and representing the station at public events. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in journalism, be proactive in pitching stories, and effectively communicate on social media.
Responsibilities
- Assist in writing, pre-production, and broadcast preparation to ensure stories are clear and accurate.
- Copy-edit scripts to avoid on-air errors as the last line of defense.
- Deliver news copy on camera in a credible and professional manner as scheduled or needed.
- Report live on-location in the field or in studio, visually showcasing stories with active liveshots and standups.
- Pitch enterprise ideas, research stories, and conduct interviews for multi-platform content creation.
- Execute the station's strategies as laid out by leadership.
- Communicate with digital staff on story updates and provide process scripts.
- Contribute daily to all station digital platforms and initiatives, including social media.
- Attend and participate in editorial meetings, contributing to story ideas in line with the station's target audience.
- Professionally represent the station at promotions and community events.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of reporting experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Thorough professionalism in all aspects of journalism.
- Well-read on current affairs with a wide range of knowledge on general interest subjects.
