About the position

The Reliability & Equipment Engineering Consultant at Chemours will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and reliability of facility assets through the development and oversight of the Corporate MI-QA Program. This position involves leading initiatives to improve compliance, conducting audits, and consulting with sites to implement best practices in maintenance strategies. The consultant will also be responsible for training, reporting on performance metrics, and participating in incident investigations to ensure operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide oversight of strategic direction, priorities, and goals for the Corporate MI-QA Program.
  • Develop and maintain corporate MI-QA Standards and Guidelines for compliance.
  • Develop and lead MI-QA related training for effective implementation.
  • Integrate external best practices through involvement with industry networks.
  • Lead initiatives to improve compliance and enhance safety and reliability of facility assets.
  • Develop MI-QA auditors and audit MI-QA compliance at sites.
  • Lead a network of Site MI-QA leaders to share resources and best practices.
  • Define and interpret national and industry standards for MI-QA program implementation.
  • Consult with sites to develop maintenance strategies for PSM Critical Equipment.
  • Drive standardization and consistency of MI-QA where practical.
  • Identify and create reporting mechanisms for MI-QA performance metrics.
  • Lead the MI-QA Gap Closure Initiative and consult on assessments.
  • Accumulate reliability data for validation and support of risk assessment processes.
  • Consult with facilities on best practices for equipment decontamination and decommissioning.
  • Identify effective maintenance training methods impacting equipment integrity.
  • Review and report on MI-QA KPIs and trends, audit findings, and incident learnings.
  • Lead and participate in MI related incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Participate in analysis of unplanned equipment failures to improve asset performance.
  • Develop an effective QA/QC process for new and replacement equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a concentration in Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Science.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in leading/managing a Mechanical Integrity team or program, and 10+ years in a related Engineering occupation.
  • Experience with Asset Integrity and Reliability Management Systems Usage or Development.
  • Knowledge of 'fit for service' evaluations in accordance with API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
  • Working knowledge of API 580/581 Risk Based Inspection Methodologies.
  • Experience with API Fixed Equipment Inspection Standards (e.g., API 510, 570, 620, and 653).
  • Understanding of API 571 Damage Mechanisms.
  • Experience with IEC/ISA- 61511 and ISA 91 for instrumented protection layers.
  • Experience in US regulatory OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety and 40 CFR Part 68 Accident Prevention Rule.
  • Experience in Asset Integrity and Reliability, Maintenance, Equipment Design, Inspection, Commissioning, Decommissioning, and Repairs.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25%-30% of the time.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team building and influencing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering or science related field.
  • Experience working in the chemicals, oil or gas industry.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Equipment Inspections and related work practices.
  • Experience in root cause investigation techniques (ABS RCA® methodology, etc.)
