About the position

The Relationship Manager II is responsible for developing and managing commercial banking relationships to maximize profitability for the bank while maintaining acceptable risk levels. This role involves relationship management, credit management, and business development, ensuring that customer needs are met with appropriate financial solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manages moderately large relationships that require more complex analysis.
  • Delivers meaningful, sustainable value to customers by anticipating needs and expectations and providing appropriate value-add solutions.
  • Ensures integrity and timeliness of customer information, documentation, and data.
  • Ensures each relationship is profitable and represents appropriate risk.
  • Assesses borrower credit-worthiness for new loan requests in accordance with credit policy.
  • Presents loan opportunities to the appropriate credit approvers with well-articulated analysis and structure.
  • Ensures that loans are documented in accordance with credit approvals.
  • Manages enterprise risk for products and services, including depository services and treasury management products.
  • Maintains high-level knowledge of commercial banking products & services.
  • Demonstrates an active calling effort to maintain a comprehensive pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Works with Sr Relationship Managers to enhance business development efforts.
  • Provides existing and prospective customers with appropriate financial services and advice.
  • Assists less experienced Relationship Managers with marketing and deal flow management.
  • Initiates community visibility and involvement through strategic relationships with centers of influence and organizations.
  • Maintains a pipeline of business leaders and prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in commercial lending as a credit analyst, underwriting specialist, or portfolio manager.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a relationship manager.
  • Advanced familiarity with treasury management services and other banking products.
  • Thorough accounting & finance knowledge.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to commercial lending.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate on behalf of the bank and borrower while balancing risk and shareholder value.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility as business dictates.
  • Ability and willingness to investigate, resolve, and recommend process improvement opportunities.
