About the position

The Senior Regulatory Specialist at Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) is responsible for overseeing environmental and regulatory matters related to ecological restoration projects. This role involves planning, permitting, operational oversight, and reporting, contributing to sustainable solutions that benefit the environment. The position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and engagement with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit leadership in technical and regulatory areas relevant to consulting, project development, and execution.
  • Manage contract discussions with third-party contractors and local planning authorities.
  • Review and prepare regulatory documents related to mitigation bank development.
  • Coordinate submittals and address comments with appropriate agencies.
  • Lead engagement with regulatory agencies to advocate for projects and obtain necessary permits.
  • Manage and coordinate the regulatory baseline field team for thorough site assessments.
  • Market RES' regulatory and environmental planning services to clients and provide ongoing support.
  • Participate in conferences and trade groups to elevate RES' brand and present at events.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Agricultural Science or similar field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Regulatory, Water Resources, or Environmental consulting.
  • Advanced understanding of relevant environmental regulations and permits/approvals (e.g., CWA 404/402/401, NWP/IP, ESA).
  • Demonstrated relationships with public agencies, regulators, and private developers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced understanding of restoration design principles and supporting technical information.
  • Experience reading and interpreting project maps and design plans.
  • Strong familiarity with GIS capabilities and functions.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., PWS, CWB, CERP, PG) or regional certifications.
