The Senior Code Officer is a highly responsible and technical professional position in the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources' Board and Code Administration Division. This role serves as the focal point between Miami-Dade County, municipal building departments, all building department certified personnel, licensed contractors, various law enforcement entities, and the manufacturing and construction industries. The position provides oversight in maximizing the safety benefits in the built environment. The Senior Code Officer plans, organizes, and directs advanced technical and professional staff in the building-trade with the performance of their operational duties. Additionally, this role participates in the development of the Florida Building Code and its High Velocity Hurricane Zone, and provides both administrative and technical support to the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA), which is entrusted with overseeing the uniform enforcement of the Building Code and has exclusive jurisdiction in both the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County with respect to its powers, duties, and functions.
