About the position

The Regulatory & Compliance Manager at The Krusteaz Company is responsible for leading and developing the Regulatory and Compliance team to ensure effective business and risk management decisions. This role involves overseeing technical compliance reviews, supporting regulatory policy establishment, and developing strategies for proactive regulatory compliance. The manager will also coordinate with various teams to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, while staying updated on regulatory trends and developments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical professionals to deliver effective compliance decisions and accurate reporting to customers.
  • Develop systems to support business needs, ensuring accurate information for internal and external customers.
  • Create tools and infrastructure to improve regulatory and technical information processes.
  • Serve as the focal point for project leadership and compliance, converting technical data into consumer information for labeling.
  • Conduct technical reviews of projects and provide clear reports for their use.
  • Support international business compliance, including export documentation and risk investigation.
  • Communicate with functional groups regarding regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Manage external consultants to support business needs effectively.
  • Partner with internal teams to identify opportunities for labeling and innovative product claims.
  • Stay current on nutrition and regulatory developments to identify business implications.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S in Food Science or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive regulatory experience in food manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2+ years of management experience.
  • Deep understanding of FDA regulations; experience with Canadian, Mexican, and EU markets is a plus.
  • Development experience in multiple product categories, particularly dry mix products.
  • Strong background in ingredient application, particularly with flours, leavening, hydrocolloids, and fats.
  • Experience in product scale-up and comfort in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Canadian, Mexican, and EU markets.
  • Development experience in dry mix products including baking and/or beverage.
  • Understanding of common consumer and market research.
