About the position

The position involves arranging for the efficient and orderly registration of patients at the hospital. The registrar is responsible for ensuring that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures. This role includes managing patient demographics that are utilized in the preparation of records and reports for operational decisions. The registrar will work with and have access to confidential patient information, requiring a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details. The position demands diplomacy and a professional image when interacting with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and SBMC personnel, as the registrar serves as the initial point of service contact for SBMC customers. Responsibilities also include registration in any area under the direction of the Manager of Admissions.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate plus Health Care courses or on-the-job training specific to Hospital or Medical Office skills.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Telephone and cash handling skills.
  • Customer service skills are essential.
  • Requires six (6) months of on-the-job training to attain job proficiency.
