About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position at Texas Health Dallas is a full-time night shift role within the Respiratory Care Department. It is recognized as a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Comprehensive Stroke and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and holds certifications as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program required
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • Good verbal communications, good interpersonal skills, and computer experience

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year Med/Surg or critical care experience preferred
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support ICU and Emergency Department only 90 Days required
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 Days required

Responsibilities

  • Review available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from the patient or family.
  • Evaluates each patient using age and diagnosis-appropriate assessment tests and measurements.
  • Applies appropriate patient care interventions according to protocol guidelines and priority of care.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age-specific needs.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient's age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
