About the position
The Registered Respiratory Therapist at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. This role involves performing diagnostic tests, administering therapies, and monitoring patients on mechanical ventilation, ensuring their safety and well-being during treatment.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with the placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers of any unintended responses.
- Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Requirements
- Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program required.
- Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state of Texas is required.
- 1 year of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
- Current BLS Certification is required.
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are preferred.
