Reports to the team leader. Chief objective of this position is that the employee must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the area of Respiratory Care with the emphasis in critical care.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate knowledge and skill in Respiratory Care with emphasis in critical care.
Understand the principles and practices of respiratory therapy.
Proficient with all equipment utilized in the respiratory care department.
Conduct critical care and general floor care assessment and functional skills.
Participate in the CQI team for data collection and improvements.
Make recommendations for effective utilization of technology.
Correct and adjust respiratory care and equipment in a timely manner.
Assume preceptor responsibilities for new employees and peers in advanced training.
Assist with clinical training of students from supported Respiratory Programs.
Assist with clinical based research projects related to respiratory care.
Perform airway management and CPR.
Requirements
Associate of Science in Respiratory Care, or graduate of an NBRC and AMA approved Respiratory Program.
One (1) year of clinical experience as a respiratory therapist.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
State approved license to practice respiratory care in Tennessee, ABG endorsed.
Current AHA BLS certification completed prior to going to the unit/department.
Current ACLS/PALS/NRP certification (preferred).
Nice-to-haves
Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
Two-Three (2-3) years of critical care experience as a registered therapist.
