Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Respiratory Care Practitioner provisional/temporary license will be accepted until license is issued.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Active certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Minimum of two years of recent, full-time experience performing advanced respiratory care in a critical care (ICU/NICU/PICU) setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and develop individualized care plans to manage and treat patients experiencing acute and chronic respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Implement and perform advanced respiratory care modalities, meticulously monitoring and communicating patient response to treatment and life-support equipment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory treatments and administered medications, adjusting the plan of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Respond immediately to all emergency resuscitation team codes, providing critical and life-saving respiratory support.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing their health condition and connect them with appropriate community resources and support programs.
