About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Adair County Health Center Inc DBA Memorial Hospital is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN may assign and direct the work of other nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse Aides. Patient needs are assessed in collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and families, and through chart review. A comprehensive head-to-toe physical assessment is performed upon admission, leading to the formulation of an individualized treatment/care plan that considers the patient's pathophysiology and other health issues. This plan is continuously reviewed and revised as needed until discharge, including a discharge plan of care. The RN is responsible for knowing the condition of their patients while on duty, conducting rounds at least every two hours (or more frequently as needed), and documenting assessments appropriately. They must promptly and appropriately notify the physician of any changes in patient condition and document this notification. The RN is accountable for planning procedures and tests, notifying the physician of abnormal results, and performing procedures within their scope of practice. They may prepare, administer, and record medications according to facility policy, judging their effectiveness and evaluating patient response. The RN will maintain complete records of procedures, treatments, and medications administered. They must demonstrate the ability to carry out medical orders as directed and in accordance with policies and procedures, and are responsible for supervising and coordinating patient management.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered licensure to practice as registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.
  • Maintains current ACLS certification (highly recommended for Bridges unit).
  • Maintains current PALS certification (highly recommended for Bridges unit).

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assign and give direction to other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, or Certified Nurse Aides.
  • Implement the nursing process for an assigned number of patients and direct subordinates in the implementation.
  • Assess patient needs in collaboration with physicians, staff, patient, and patient’s family and by chart review.
  • Perform a complete admission, including a complete head to toe physical assessment.
  • Formulate the treatment/care plan specific to the individual needs of the patient.
  • Continuously review and revise the treatment plan/plan of care as needed until point of discharge.
  • Conduct rounds a minimum of every two hours and more often as needed or ordered.
  • Document assessments appropriately.
  • Notify the physician promptly and appropriately of any changes in the patient condition and document their notification.
  • Plan procedures or tests and notify the physician of abnormal results.
  • Perform procedures within their scope of practice.
  • Prepare, administer, and record medication in conformance with facility policy and procedures.
  • Judge the effectiveness of the medication administered and evaluate the patient’s response, as needed.
  • Maintain complete records of procedures and treatments performed and medications administered.
  • Carry out medical orders as directed and in accordance to policy and procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate the management of patients.
