The Registered Nurse, Surgical 2 position at McLeod Health is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a surgical setting. Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Assess needs of patients based on history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic data analysis.
- Plan individualized nursing care to meet the holistic age-specific needs of patients.
- Provide appropriate nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and standards of practice.
- Conduct hourly rounds using service excellence standards.
- Foster an environment demonstrating caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
- Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patient and staff.
- Care for central lines, foley catheters, pressure ulcers, ventilators, restraints, and patients at risk for falls.
- Contribute to the daily efficient performance of the department as charge nurse when assigned.
- Precept novice employees to contribute to overall departmental performance.
- Participate in hospital-system initiatives cultivating nursing-involved Evidence Based Practices.
- Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and educational offerings.
Requirements
- Zero to less than 1 year of related work experience.
- BLS certification (Required for ALL nurses).
- Advanced Resuscitative Certification appropriate to their patient population if serving in a Charge Nurse or PCS position.
Nice-to-haves
