About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at The Harlem Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is a vital role focused on providing high-quality care to residents in a supportive and compassionate environment. The RN will be responsible for ensuring that residents receive the best possible care, participating in administrative functions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update care plans. Responsibilities

  • Participate in administrative functions, including providing written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director and other team members.
  • Prepare for new admissions, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Consult with residents, their families, and resident physicians to develop and update care plans.
  • Observe, assess, and report any changes in residents' conditions and update care plans accordingly.
  • Ensure that nursing personnel providing direct care are properly trained and qualified to perform required tasks.
  • Monitor medication administration and treatment schedules to ensure medications are given as prescribed and treatments are carried out as planned.
  • Conduct daily inspections of nursing service treatment areas to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
  • Use effective communication to maintain inter-departmental coordination and understanding of residents' needs.
  • Remain flexible and prepared to perform any other services or assignments within the scope of practice of an RN.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary, including administering treatments, medications, and assisting with resident care.

Requirements

  • Valid, current RN license.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and terminology, including laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • New graduate RNs are welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in long-term care is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare software is advantageous.
