About the position

The Clinical Nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is a vital member of the Professional Nursing Organization, responsible for providing evidence-based care through the nursing process. This role emphasizes autonomous practice, critical thinking, and leadership within a collaborative healthcare environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients while promoting continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
  • Anticipates and recognizes changes in patient status, modifying the plan of care or elevating issues to the care team as necessary.
  • Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients and uphold their autonomy in decision-making.
  • Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.
  • Assumes authority and accountability for nursing care while delegating elements of care appropriately.
  • Prioritizes and organizes time to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Seeks out current evidence and standards to apply to daily practice and contributes to research and quality improvement.
  • Communicates effectively in various formats and partners with others to effect positive change.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 1 year of experience, or Associate Degree (ADN) with 2 years' experience.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
  • ACLS Certificate required upon hire in specific units.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a research-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with shared governance nursing models.
