About the position

The position involves providing high-quality nursing care to a specific patient population within a clinical unit at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center. The role requires independent practice, solid clinical skills, and the ability to serve as a clinical resource for others. The nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to advocate for patient and family needs while ensuring safe and effective care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Independently practice with solid knowledge and clinical skills in the care of unit-specific patient populations.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for other staff members.
  • Apply and integrate evidence-based practices into nursing care.
  • Function effectively in unit-specific roles, such as arrest team for ICU or triage for ED.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate patient care.
  • Advocate independently for patient and family needs.
  • Model practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, and equitable patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland or eligibility to practice due to Compact state agreements.
  • More than 12 months of nursing experience.
  • Solid knowledge and clinical skills in nursing.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Must meet all unit-specific certification requirements (PALS, ACLS, NRP).
