About the position

The Clinical Nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is a vital member of the Professional Nursing Organization, responsible for providing evidence-based care through the nursing process. This role emphasizes autonomous practice, critical thinking, and leadership, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients while engaging in continuous professional development and governance of nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Anticipates and recognizes changes in patient status, modifying care plans as necessary.
  • Advocates for patients' autonomy and ensures informed consent in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Mentors colleagues and manages interpersonal relationships to advance nursing practice.
  • Assumes accountability for patient care while delegating tasks appropriately within the care team.
  • Seeks out current evidence and applies it to daily practice, contributing to research and quality improvement.
  • Communicates effectively across various formats and partners with others to effect positive change.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 1 year of experience, or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with 2 years of experience.
  • All ADN prepared nurses must commit to completing a BSN or higher nursing degree within 10 years of hire.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
  • ACLS Certificate required upon hire for specific units.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting related to pediatric gastroenterology.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
