About the position

The Rapid City Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their Gastroenterology department. This role focuses on providing professional nursing care to clinic patients, assisting physicians, and serving as a primary liaison between patients and medical staff. The position emphasizes a work-life balance with no night, weekend, or holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provides general nursing care to patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing.
• Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
• Dispenses medication as directed and educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health.
• Ensures appointment preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
• Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination, screening for appropriate information.
• Instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests.
• Maintains/reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, posting tests and examination results.
• Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls, instructing patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current nursing license required.
• Minimum of one-year professional nursing experience, clinic experience preferred.
