About the position

As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Walworth Hospital, you will provide compassionate and culturally sensitive nursing care to patients. This role supports the Mercyhealth nursing mission and involves variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. You will be responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, documentation, and patient education, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures all documentation is accurate and comprehensive according to established standards of care.
  • Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the patient's individualized needs.
  • Utilizes resources available to teach and support patient and family education.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
  • Acts to resolve systems breakdowns and engages self and others in providing solutions.
  • Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, managing complex situations and delegating appropriately.
  • Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
  • Engages in personal development and supports continuous learning and growth opportunities.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients and performs telephone triage of patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
  • Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
  • Approved BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP.
