About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) at Advocate Aurora Health is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care in a surgical environment. This entry-level position is ideal for new graduates or nurses looking to expand their skills in a supportive team setting. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient advocacy, and the delivery of safe, therapeutic care through the nursing process. The RN will work closely with surgeons, techs, and anesthesia staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
- Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Assess patient needs and implement individualized interventions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care and adjust as necessary.
- Anticipate and recognize significant changes in the patient's condition and respond appropriately.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care.
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase safety.
- Educate patients and families about care and discharge plans.
- Participate in quality/process improvement initiatives.
- Support shared governance activities to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
- No prior experience required; new graduates are welcome.
