About the position

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Assist patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for nursing.
  • Follow the MS Nurse Practice Act and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintain certifications as required for specialty areas.
  • Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians.

Requirements

  • Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
  • Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience must be within the past five (5) years or evidence of successful refresher program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in specialty areas such as Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, or Labor & Delivery.
  • Completion of de-escalation training by the end of position orientation.
