About the position

Adventist HealthCare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Forensic Medical Unit. The RN will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients, focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This position emphasizes patient education, mentorship, and adherence to professional standards while fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and families through the continuum of care.
  • Serve as role models to Level I nurses and support best practices in patient care.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to ANA standards of practice.
  • Use equipment and technology correctly and delegate non-nursing duties appropriately.
  • Develop a plan of care according to patient population.
  • Identify impending changes in patient condition and initiate corrective action.
  • Mentor students, colleagues, and team members in patient-centered care.
  • Conduct purposeful rounding from patient and family perspective.
  • Conduct efficient literature searches and apply findings to practice.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical care and participate in change of practice based on evidence.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Passing score on NCLEX
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Current Maryland State nursing license
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by specialty area

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Forensic Medical Unit or Emergency Department experience preferred.
