About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) position in Corrections involves providing nursing care within a correctional facility on a 13-week contract assignment. The role requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with specific clearance requirements for employment. The RN will be responsible for delivering healthcare services to inmates, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and maintaining a safe environment for both staff and patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to inmates in a correctional facility.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and assess patients' health status and report any changes.
- Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and facility policies.
- Participate in health education and promotion activities.
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in corrections or similar settings.
- Ability to complete clearance forms, including a 10-year work history with explanations for any gaps.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in correctional facilities or with underserved populations.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
