About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Urology department is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure effective patient care and safety, while utilizing leadership skills to coordinate and delegate tasks within the patient care unit.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient interviews and assess health status across various systems including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and neurological.
  • Assess psychosocial health status and identify cultural needs to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized goals based on assessments.
  • Coordinate care activities and prioritize tasks to achieve expected patient outcomes.
  • Implement the plan of care while ensuring safety precautions are followed and providing emotional support to patients and families.
  • Measure the effectiveness of care provided and document outcomes for performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with care team members to plan and execute treatment regimens, providing direction as needed.
  • Assist physicians during treatments and diagnostic procedures, keeping them informed of patient condition changes.
  • Administer medications safely and educate patients on drug interactions and side effects.
  • Participate in patient and family education, ensuring understanding of conditions and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred, with enrollment in an accredited BSN program within two years and completion within five years.
