About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic is responsible for coordinating nursing care, providing direct patient care, and educating patients and families. This role emphasizes leadership, communication, and collaboration within a team environment, with a focus on supporting patients with autoimmune diseases.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care for patients, including direct patient care and education.
• Support professional nursing practice across various settings and care continuums.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Provide leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, and patient needs.
• Participate in committees or projects as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements prior to start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required before start date.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.

Nice-to-haves

• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
• Familiarity with autoimmune diseases and immunosuppressive medicines.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.
