About the position

The Registered Nurse in the PRCU at Henry Ford Health is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients using independent judgment and analytical skills. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and standards. The nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans, educate patients and families, and monitor patient responses to interventions, all while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes and patient comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of nursing services to patients using independent professional judgment.
  • Coordinate development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care in accordance with clinical practice guidelines.
  • Assess patient needs and implement educational interventions for patients and families.
  • Utilize pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to ensure patient comfort.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and community agencies to develop discharge plans.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and progress toward outcomes.
  • Educate patients regarding treatment plans, safety measures, and self-care.
  • Perform ongoing assessments and complete admission assessments as required.
  • Initiate and document nursing care plans based on patient needs and medical diagnoses.
  • Respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
  • Current Michigan licensure to practice as a registered nurse (RN).
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in stressful situations.
  • Ability to walk or stand continuously and frequently lift and position patients.
