About the position
The Registered Nurse at Northwell Health is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure effective treatment and care coordination for patients. The nurse will utilize leadership skills and clinical judgment to direct and delegate activities within the patient care unit, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews and assess health status across various systems including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and neurological.
- Evaluate psychosocial health status and identify cultural needs to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Develop individualized patient outcome statements and establish goals based on assessments.
- Prioritize care activities and coordinate the use of supplies and medications to achieve expected outcomes.
- Implement the care plan while ensuring safety precautions and effective communication with patients and families.
- Measure and document the effectiveness of care provided and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with care team members and provide direction to ensure timely completion of care assignments.
- Assist physicians during treatments and keep them informed of any changes in patient conditions.
- Administer medications safely and educate patients about drug interactions and side effects.
- Participate in patient and family education, ensuring understanding of conditions and discharge planning.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN Degree within five years of job entry date.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
