About the position
The Registered Nurse Per Diem Nights at Newton Medical Center is responsible for implementing the Nursing Process based on established Standards of Practice, ensuring adherence to patient care policies and procedures. This role involves performing patient assessments, developing and evaluating patient care plans, documenting patient data, providing patient education, and coordinating effective discharge planning. The nurse will also maintain technical competency in IV therapy and medication administration, manage telemetry monitoring, and participate in self-development and competency maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments by collecting health history data and completing admission assessments.
- Develop individualized patient care plans involving patients and their families.
- Implement and evaluate patient care plans, continually reassessing patient needs.
- Document patient data accurately and in a timely manner according to policy.
- Provide patient education and coordinate discharge planning.
- Maintain technical competency in IV therapy and medication administration.
- Demonstrate accuracy in transcription and implementation of orders.
- Integrate and promote patient treatment, managing multiple care plans effectively.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities, including supervising staff and ensuring care plans are updated.
Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited Nursing School
- Valid RN license
- Current healthcare provider BLS certification
- Experience in patient care and nursing procedures
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in telemetry nursing
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring procedures
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
