About the position

The position involves assisting physicians and staff with the daily coordination of patient care, acting as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians. The role focuses on maintaining efficient patient flow, delivering direct patient care, and ensuring proper documentation and communication within the healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access.
  • Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy.
  • Collect lab specimens according to departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately label specimens and prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Ensure proper preparation for patient visits and prepare pertinent information needed for patient visits.
  • Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager appropriately and promptly.
  • Ensure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
  • Employ appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
  • Obtain vital signs accurately and completely as required.
  • Document appropriately in EHR and administer injections according to appropriate protocol.
  • Demonstrate understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures.
  • Schedule appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines.
  • Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • 0 - 1 years experience; 2-4 years experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Windows-based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
