About the position

The Registered Nurse in Obstetrics is responsible for delivering comprehensive care to obstetric patients during the 3rd shift. This role involves patient care coordination, collaboration with healthcare professionals, accurate documentation, patient education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. The position emphasizes professional development and maintaining a positive professional image.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, evaluation) to deliver comprehensive care to obstetric patients.
  • Direct and coordinate all nursing care for assigned patients, ensuring seamless and effective care delivery.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes and efficient care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate data collection and ensure documentation reflects the care provided, adhering to hospital policies and timeframes.
  • Provide timely health information and written materials to patients and their significant others, documenting these interactions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of nursing care through participation in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Accept accountability for practice and development; stay updated with current nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Consistently project a positive professional image through appearance and behavior.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Completion of twenty-four (24) contact hours of approved Continuing Education (CE) every two years as required by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Continuous certification in American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Attain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain continuous certification.
