About the position
The Registered Nurse in the Newborn Nursery at St. Mary's General Hospital is responsible for delivering safe and compassionate patient care to newborns and their families. This role involves utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, while also guiding and directing other nursing personnel. The nurse must respond quickly to changes in patient conditions and ensure a safe environment for all patients and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors.
- Utilize the chain of command to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care from post-delivery stabilization through discharge.
Requirements
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
- BCLS certification upon hire and maintain current certification.
- NRP certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current certification.
