About the position

A3 (37 beds) and C3 (20 beds) work together to care for a medically complex patient population. Whether it's oncology or pulmonary patients, those with infections, or patients at end of life, you have the opportunity to develop a solid foundation, hone your skills, gain expertise in various aspects of patient care, and truly make a difference. Every day presents multiple learning opportunities as we work very closely with other nurses, physicians, and other disciplines to provide quality care to our patients and provide you with a tremendous learning path. For those interested, after gaining experience on the unit, becoming chemotherapy certified becomes a potential career advancement option, further expanding one's skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills that are age specific in all interactions and delivery of nursing care.
  • Assesses patients' physical/psycho-social status.
  • Analyzes relevant data and integrates assessment results in care planning, goals and outcomes.
  • Provides for therapeutic interventions based on the continued assessment, prescribed orders and input from other care providers.
  • Provides for adequate pain management, manages IV therapy and administers medications according to critical elements.
  • Communicates with patients, colleagues, providers, and management in an accurate, considerate, and timely manner.
  • Applies patient specific communication skills in interactions that are culturally sensitive and appropriate to age.
  • Employs critical thinking skills to achieve outcomes and solve problems.
  • Engages in caring relationships that integrate the influence of the human experience of health, illness, and/or healing.
  • Manages own work and material resources effectively.
  • Applies leadership skills consistent with role and experience.
  • Incorporates teaching in delivery of care to promote health and prevent disease.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Candidates with AAS in Nursing who will complete BSN within four years of date of hire will be considered.
