About the position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of the hospital's philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures within a designated unit. This role includes 24-hour accountability for patient care, human resource management, and financial oversight, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a culture of safety and professional development among staff.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain unit compliance with regulatory and hospital policies for patient services and safety.
  • Maintain current nursing knowledge and assess personal growth needs for professional development.
  • Identify and resolve real or potential problems affecting service delivery.
  • Foster a shared management philosophy and encourage staff involvement in governance.
  • Develop staff through ongoing education and support for certification in clinical specialties.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding changes and initiatives within the organization.
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities, including budget monitoring and resource allocation.
  • Ensure operational excellence and quality service delivery in accordance with professional standards.
  • Manage human resources to promote positive employee relations and effective staffing.
  • Support organizational goals and safety culture through proactive monitoring and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MS) preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in nursing.
  • At least two years of management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current nursing license and certifications as required by the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and quality improvement programs.
  • Familiarity with budget management and fiscal oversight in a healthcare environment.
