About the position

The RN Clinical Nurse I position at Atrium Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery involves providing professional nursing care to critically ill newborns in a Level IV NICU. The role requires skillful assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care under the supervision of nursing leadership. The position emphasizes maintaining clinical competency, collaborating with healthcare teams, and promoting a safe and inclusive environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or situation.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or situation.
  • Develop a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Implement the identified plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Delegate elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with applicable legal or policy parameters.
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Practice in a manner congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice.
  • Collaborate with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in nursing practice.
  • Lead within the professional practice setting and the profession.
  • Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.
  • Contribute to quality nursing practice.
  • Evaluate one's own and others' nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.
  • Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Practice ethically.
  • Promote shared governance and facility decision-making activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification required per policy guidelines.
  • At least 6 months of RN experience; not suitable for new graduates.
  • BSN preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Level IV NICU or similar high-acuity environment.
