About the position

The position involves providing work direction to clinical and support staff, coordinating resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations, and ensuring a smooth flow of patients through the department. The role includes supporting direct patient care through the nursing process, promoting an environment conducive to quality patient care, and coordinating the needs of the patient care team. The incumbent will act as a resource to employees, assist with human resource responsibilities, monitor employee assignments, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Additionally, the position requires input into budget management, collaboration with management on program development, and vendor coordination for equipment and supplies. The role demands knowledge of age-specific care and the ability to assess and interpret patient needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides work direction to clinical and support staff.
  • Coordinates resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations.
  • Supports direct patient care through the nursing process.
  • Promotes communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff.
  • Acts as a resource to employees, including training and performance input.
  • Assists with human resource responsibilities such as interviewing and resolving employee concerns.
  • Monitors employee assignments and maintains staff scheduling.
  • Monitors the quality of care provided and ensures compliance with policies.
  • Provides input to budget and ensures adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Works with management to develop new and existing programs and services.
  • Coordinates with vendors for requested products and in-services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary for age-appropriate care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in clinical nursing within an acute care setting.
