About the position
The Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery at Medical City Las Colinas is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in the Labor and Delivery department. This role involves collaboration with medical providers and care teams to provide individualized care, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The RN serves as an advocate for patients and their families, promoting a positive patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Evaluate patient environment for safety risks and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Regularly assess patient pain to promote effective pain management.
- Monitor for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect and report as necessary.
- Perform procedures and monitoring as ordered by medical providers.
- Document care administration in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for therapeutic responses.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs proactively.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up measures.
- Manage a care team, providing oversight and delegation as appropriate.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver holistic patient treatment plans.
- Engage in evidence-based practices to enhance patient experience and safety.
- Maintain professional appearance and demonstrate behaviors consistent with established policies.
Requirements
- Valid RN License
- Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification
- Experience in Medical terminology
- Associate's degree in nursing
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment
- Neonate Resuscitation certification within 90 days of employment
- Registered Nurse Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of employment
