The Registered Nurse Intake position at Intermountain Health involves performing telephone assessments to determine the appropriateness of patient admissions and coordinating necessary services. Responsibilities

  • Perform telephone assessments of referred patients to determine appropriateness for admission.
  • Coordinate services for patients based on assessment results.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all referral sources.
  • Complete the intake process according to agency guidelines.
  • Obtain and evaluate the appropriateness and completeness of initial physician's orders.
  • Ensure completion of documentation related to patient intake.
  • Determine insurance eligibility through understanding of Medicare regulations and private pay options.
  • Utilize effective communication skills with customers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure.
  • One year of acute patient care or homecare experience.
  • Basic computer skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and sensitivity with team members and customers.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of working experience must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in homecare, insurance, or with third-party payers.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Experience with Horizon computer software.
