About the position

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System-Medical Center is seeking Registered Nurses for the Adult Critical Care Unit Fulltime. The most competitive candidates will have at least one year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a critical care/Intensive Care Unit (ICU) working with the adult patient population. The work schedule is for the night shift from 7:00pm to 7:30am. Within the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act, the role involves assessing, planning, organizing, and providing nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions. Responsibilities include assisting physicians in administering treatments, charting treatment of patients, counseling patients and families, and providing orientation and training to new staff. The position may also involve participating in quality assurance reviews and acting as a team leader or relief charge nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions.
  • Assist physicians in administering treatments and performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and surgical operations.
  • Administer prescribed treatment and medications, chart treatment of patients, and report significant changes in condition.
  • Counsel and advise patients, families, and significant others regarding medical problems and healthcare methods.
  • Instruct patients in carrying out physician's orders and may transcribe physician's orders to working records.
  • Provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, and nursing students.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
  • Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel and participate in committee activities.
  • Triage patients by reviewing admission charts and merging patients into the patient assignment or clinic flow.
  • Coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians and primary care nurses.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • For Registered Nurse II: Completion of one year as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, mental health setting, clinic outpatient setting, or healthcare agency program.
  • For Registered Nurse III: Three years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility, mental health facility, or community health agency.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.
  • National certification in a nursing specialty may be considered as a substitution for one year of the required experience.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may be considered as a substitution for two years of the required experience.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: Registered Nurse II-MC/CHC: $42.30 - $65.47 per hour; Registered Nurse III-MC/CHC: $49.16 - $74.19 per hour; ICU Critical Care Pay: $4.00 per hour.
