The Registered Nurse position is responsible for ensuring clinical planning, coordination, assisting with COVID-19 testing and vaccination processes, and patient triage. The Registered Nurse is a critical care team member and works with nursing staff to plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care based on the needs and concerns of patients and administration. The Registered Nurse serves as a leader and maintains quality of care through an ongoing process of assessment, planning, and implementation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include reviewing patient charts for missing labs, reports, and/or open orders, triaging urgent same-day or double-book appointment requests, and coordinating and participating in daily huddles. The nurse will assist with inventory management, prepare equipment, and aid physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. They will verify chief complaints, take vital signs as requested, review the EHR active medication list with patients, conduct and document point-of-care tests based on protocol, and perform injections as directed by the provider. Additionally, the Registered Nurse will provide general nursing care to patients, administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards, and plan, articulate, and coordinate care and interventions. They will maintain consideration for specific age-related characteristics, needs related to physical development, communication, and socialization and safety, in collaboration with other members of the care team. The nurse will assist with the COVID testing and vaccination processes, facilitate clinical messages, and chronic condition management education, provide abnormal test results to patients, and add recommendations to individualized care plans. Documentation is crucial, as the nurse must document progress notes in the electronic health record within 24 hours, manage patient flow through the primary care clinic, perform CLIA waived tests as needed, and maintain all environment of care quality logs. Participation in scheduled clinic rounds to maintain the environment of care is also required. The nurse will conduct medication management, including performing medication reconciliation, reinforcing medication knowledge, and understanding medication regimens, referring to pharmacists as required. Finally, the nurse will enforce adequate Infection Control standards, with guidance from the Medical Director.
