About the position

The RN Level 2 Nursing Services position involves providing nursing care at Tripler Army Medical Center, Warrior Ohana Medical Home, and Desmond Doss Health Clinic in Oahu, Hawaii. The facility operates 24/7, including holidays, and nurses may be assigned to various units including Medical/Surgical, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Surgical Admission Center, Float Pool, and Psychiatry. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices and the ability to respond to emergencies effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate optimal clinical outcomes concerning care quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and established policies.
  • Perform physical exams and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Make patient care assignments based on personnel's scope of practice.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react in emergencies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as needed.
  • Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Participate in discharge planning and patient education.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in Medical/Surgical, Psychiatric, OB/GYN, or Pediatric nursing within the last 5 years.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved training program.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Telemetry Units.
  • Pass the Telemetry and Medication Exam within a week of starting work in the Medical/Surgical Unit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board certification in nursing specialty areas.
