About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room at UMass Memorial Health is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. This per diem position requires flexibility in scheduling, with shifts that may include day and night hours. The RN will work under the supervision of the Nurse Director or designee, coordinating patient care and ensuring a safe and efficient hospitalization experience for patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to assigned patients in the Emergency Room.
- Act as Charge Nurse/Resource Nurse when required.
- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care administered by staff.
- Assist patients in moving safely and efficiently through their hospitalization period.
Requirements
- Valid RN License in Massachusetts.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of one year of general medical-surgical experience preferred.
- Advanced Life Support skills within 6 months of hiring.
Nice-to-haves
- ACLS certification preferred for M&S staff.
- PALS certification preferred for per diem staff.
- CEN certification for ECC staff once eligible.
