About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for delivering competent, evidence-based care to patients with acute and chronic conditions. This role involves supervising nursing staff, providing urgent and emergent care, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The RN will engage in various roles including direct care provider, educator, and advocate, while fostering a supportive environment for professional development and collaboration within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent, evidence-based nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing care provided by licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Assist in directing nursing education, orientation, and competencies.
  • Provide urgent and emergent care to patients with medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions.
  • Evaluate nursing practice based on best evidence and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for healthcare professionals' development.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions to effect change and improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in activities to sustain an evidence-based practice culture.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and urinalysis for illegal drug use.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in emergency nursing or critical care settings.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in nursing.
