About the position

The Domiciliary Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in promoting personal growth and development within psychiatric-mental health nursing practice. This position focuses on providing patient-centered and recovery-oriented care to individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and lead the provision of competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients.
  • Assist in directing nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate shift reports, warm hand-offs, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups.
  • Utilize therapeutic communication techniques and practice de-escalation techniques.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams and respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Document nursing assessments, risk screens, and patient safety rounds according to facility policy.
  • Maintain professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as the Admission Coordinator, ensuring understanding of admission criteria and processes.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
