About the position

The Registered Nurse at the Community Living Center (Tranquility House) is responsible for providing optimal nursing care to veterans, focusing on individual growth and development in practice. The role requires the formulation of care plans based on nursing assessments and the ability to manage complex client situations. The nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and patient satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in nursing practice through conscious and deliberate planning.
  • Self-direct in goal setting for managing complex client situations.
  • Coordinate care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Administer medications and procedures according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to influence patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork.
  • Participate in unit-based educational activities and continuing education requirements.
  • Formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments.
  • Meet the needs of the Veteran and their family or significant others.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting with veterans or similar populations.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement activities at the unit level.
