About the position

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a frontline leader who ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care during their assigned shift. The CNC supports the unit’s operations, collaborates with leadership on strategic initiatives, and acts as a mentor and resource for the nursing team to promote excellent clinical outcomes and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily ICU operations and patient care delivery during assigned shifts
  • Collaborate with unit leadership to provide clinical and operational direction
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model to nursing staff
  • Maintain an effective competency and staff development program
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation of new services or initiatives
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, and payroll processes to align with unit needs
  • Evaluate and manage staff performance including conducting evaluations and handling personnel concerns
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture with accountability, professionalism, and compassion
  • Ensure appropriate staffing mix and levels based on patient volume and acuity
  • Participate in departmental and hospital committees as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of practice or compact license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred
  • Previous leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience strongly preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
