About the position

The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) in the Surgical Unit is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members, while promoting a professional team-based environment. The Charge RN also coordinates patient care assignments, participates in quality improvement programs, and serves as a mentor to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates communication and interactions in accordance to Confluence Health's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform related assignments to promote positive relations with visitors, family, and co-workers.
  • Serves as a consultant, mentor, and role model to staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality service daily.
  • Address inappropriate or unacceptable behavior of co-workers.
  • Participate in problem-solving identified issues.
  • Follow through on problems that may compromise patient care using the appropriate chain of command.
  • Assist with the orientation of nursing personnel and contribute to the educational experience of students.
  • Coordinate and make assignments for patient care based on needs and staff skill mix.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement programs.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and practices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Respond/lead in a Code Blue or RRT as assigned.
  • Perform/assist with duties outlined in the Inpatient Registered Nurse Job Description.
  • Adhere to hospital and unit policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN standard).
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Washington or through Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication, and password management.
