About the position

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab collaborates with physicians to provide a comprehensive plan of care aimed at returning patients to optimal health. This role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and ensuring that patient needs are met throughout their care journey.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing the integration of evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates and participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resource persons.
• Attends discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seeks out educational opportunities for professional growth and utilizes programs in the hospital or community.
• Teaches and guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts and mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
• Communicates relevant information in an understandable and effective manner.
• Demonstrates organizational skills through effective planning.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Minimum one year clinical experience in critical care, special procedures, surgery, and step-down cardiac care.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous cardiac catheterization laboratory or CVH experience.
• Six months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• E.P. experience for E.P. staff members only.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
