About the position

The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory position at Northwell Health involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients. Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient interviews and assess health status across various systems including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and neurological.
  • Assess psychosocial health status and identify cultural/ethnic requirements to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals based on assessments.
  • Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies and document the plan of care in collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Implement the plan of care while ensuring safety precautions and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Measure the effectiveness of care provided and document outcomes for performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with care team members in planning and executing treatment regimens, providing direction as needed.
  • Accurately interpret and implement treatment regimens as prescribed by physicians, assisting during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform skin care and preventive measures, including administering medications and educating patients about drug interactions.
  • Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred, with enrollment in an accredited BSN program within two years and completion within five years.
