About the position

The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory (Cardiology) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role involves collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure effective treatment and patient satisfaction, while also demonstrating leadership and clinical judgment in coordinating care and directing the patient care unit team.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient interviews and assesses health status across various systems including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological.
  • Assesses psychosocial health status and identifies cultural/ethnic requirements to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Develops patient outcome statements and establishes individualized patient goals based on assessments.
  • Coordinates care activities and prioritizes tasks to achieve expected patient outcomes, documenting the plan of care.
  • Implements the plan of care, ensuring safety precautions are followed and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Measures effectiveness of care provided and documents variance analysis for performance improvement.
  • Collaborates with care team members in planning and executing treatment regimens, providing direction as needed.
  • Interprets and implements treatment regimens as prescribed by physicians, assisting during treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs skin care and preventive measures, including administering medications and educating patients about drug interactions.
  • Participates in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
