Registered Nurse-3 East Medical Surgical

About the position

The Registered Nurse in the 3 East Medical Surgical department collaborates with physicians to provide a comprehensive plan of care aimed at returning patients to optimal health. This role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan and ensuring that patient needs are met throughout their stay.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resource persons.
• Attends discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seeks out educational opportunities for professional growth.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.
• Orthopedic Nurse Certification.
